Challenge

A Bangkok-based e-commerce platform had grown quickly and its standard consumer terms had not been reviewed since the business was much smaller. A Consumer Protection Board enquiry prompted the company to assess whether its current terms met regulatory requirements under the Unfair Contract Terms Act.

Solution

Sanam Pact conducted a full contract compliance review covering the platform's terms and conditions, returns policy, and marketplace seller agreement. Seven clauses were identified as carrying unfairness risk, with redrafting recommendations provided for each.

Outcome

Revised terms were implemented within three weeks of the report. The Consumer Protection Board enquiry was addressed with reference to the completed review and revised documentation. The matter was closed without further proceedings within six weeks.

Challenge

Challenge

A consumer electronics retailer received a formal complaint filed through the Consumer Case Procedure Court following a product fault dispute that had not been resolved through the company's own process. The matter involved twelve affected customers and the company had received initial notification from the OCPC.

Solution

Sanam Pact managed the formal response to the OCPC, coordinated engagement with each affected customer, and advised on a structured settlement approach that addressed the complaints within the company's service capacity. Post-resolution, the company's consumer complaint handling procedures were reviewed and updated.

Outcome
